There were numerous activities initiated by the school from last year for the betterment and overall growth of the students:-
The golden rules were put up in each classroom for the students to read and follow the same daily. It boosts their confidence level and spreads positivity in the classroom.
Important sign boards were introduced in the corridors, stair case, entrance area for the safety of the students and to help them to follow the instructions in order to maintain the decorum and discipline.
Various kinesthetic techniques such as hand shaking, patting on the shoulders were introduced to control the over physical activities such as turning around, moving, sudden excitement which helps them to settle down.
The students were made aware of the ill effects of fast food on their health. They were motivated to bring healthy snacks to school and to avoid junk food.
To create awareness about ‘Mother Earth’ and to make the students understand the importance of saving our Earth, there were a range of activities and surveys that were conducted by the school such as energy conservation, water conservation, maintaining and sustaining healthy environment which is the need of the hour.
Yoga and meditation session for class 9 and 10. The main focus of the programme was aimed on character building, suitable ways to interact with peers, effective communication with friends. Few yoga exercises were also taught to help students to energize and motivate them to concentrate better in their studies.
The school also organized an awareness program on de-worming for the benefit of the students.
The school had organized the student culmination program for students of class 1 and 2 as experimental learning in the form of welcome song, storytelling, experiments based on colours, quiz, riddles and role plays. The students exhibited what they learnt in their classroom during the culmination program.
As a part of our initiative, useful commodities were collected from parents and teachers and were sent as a relief measure to Kerala during floods through a well known foundation in Chennai.
The school is also involved in many social welfare activities. We are paying cash to ‘Akshaya Trust’ an old age home, for the purchase of monthly groceries for the senior citizens residing in the home.
Our management believes in helping the needy. As an initiative to help our in house staff, the school has taken up the responsibility and paid the education expenses of one of our support staff’s children, who is a single parent.
We at San, believe in having a clean and safe environment. As every step counts, San Academy initiated the ‘ No plastic’ drive in the school campus. The school has initiated to use things made up of eco-friendly materials and has stopped using anything made up of plastic. The school has also urged and requested the parents to send steel lunch boxes and bottles for their wards.
The Road Safety Patrol is a service to mankind that ensures an accident free life. Road safety knowledge is useful in our day today life as it relates to the safety on roads as every one of us use the road in our daily life in some form or other. San Academy in association with Tamil Nadu Police Traffic Wardens Organization inaugurated the Road Safety Patrol at the school premises. Our school RSP co-coordinator along with 15 cadets participated in the function. The event was inaugurated by Mr. Swaminathan IPS, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Traffic South District, St. Thomas Mount. He vested the student volunteers with RSP Caps and elaborated on the roles and responsibilities of the volunteers. The RSP cadets are the medium through which the road safety education is disseminated to the society. They learn the road safety rules and practice them for their safety and also for the fellow beings.
Workshop on road and general safety was organized for the drivers and attenders of the school to create awareness about the safety measures to be followed.
Each One Teach One: The school has requested the parents and teachers to share their ideas and suggestions to the management by sending a mail. The best practices will be implemented in the school.
Kindness wall: The school initiated a kindness wall wherein the management and the teachers contributed new goods. Each support staff received one gift from the wall
One of the initiatives to make our surroundings clean, the parents and teachers were requested to plant one sapling in order to save our environment and make our earth a more greener place to live.
To appreciate the dignity of labour of our ayammas, the students of class 11 conducted a fun filled activity to make them feel special and delighted.
This year, the management has rewarded and recognized the efforts and hard work of a few Sanites. Our principal, Ms. Sujatha Saravanan, our School Coordinator, Ms. Meenakshi, our cultural coordinator- Ms. Sangeetha and our Admission incharge – Ms. Selva Karthika, received a cash prize and an appreciation letter for their contribution towards the smooth functioning of the school.
